Low Patient Population – The ideal practice is one that has sufficient patients to justify one or more full time nurses dedicated to the infusion program. However, if a low patient population dictates, we can staff a limited number of days per week to keep overhead in line with expected revenue, while still utilizing specifically trained and certified nurses. This is accomplished through staff sharing with other infusion centers.
New Drug Entities – As new drug entities enter the market, the drug of choice today may be replaced in a few months or years. Our low cost, low inventory model provides the greatest flexibility in this volatile environment.
Price Compression – Pricing pressure on innovative and expensive therapies has always been an issue. With an annual cost for many patients exceeding $10,000, the pressure will continue. Profit margins for these therapies will probably decrease over time. However, our defense is that by being a low cost, high quality provider with positive outcomes, our program will continue to provide profitable in-office infusion services.
